What My Father Told Me

What My Father Told Me
Decades ago.
I had a dream about my father
There were some things he told me
Through a crack in the Wall
Fitting for a voice from Beyond
This what he told me.
You gotta run like Yossarian
When the Man
Is  just a mouthpiece
For the Devil
Like a Fox
You  go to ground
Get yourself an
Earful of Johnny Cash
Stay off the roads
When the troops
Are on the move
It was just a sickness
In the body politic
That littered foreign shores
With American dead.
And now it comes home
When the Man is just
The mouthpiece
For the Devil
You can't believe what you told
Not when it looks like
The Fascists had
Finally won the Second World War
