Aurora Theater Shooting: Political Cowardice and Moral Hazard

You know what dishonors the slain? The very same thing that dishonored the slain at the Gabby Gifford's assassination attempt. What dishonors them?
DOING NOTHING!
Allowing other cretins to buy assault rifles and other military hardware and stock up on ammo for the next shooting spree! Allowing the sale of over sized capacity magazines!
No rush to judgement? What JUDGEMENT?
No cash welfare, no sex education, drug testing for public assistance. Moral hazard.
But not when it comes to the ability to kill people by the score in under one minute.
Simple math. No assault weapons ban, no extended clip ban = POLITICAL COWARDICE.
Everything Holmes did up until he pulled the pin on that grenade was perfectly legal.
No Mr. President, the present laws are NOT adequate for keeping Americans safe. DO YOUR GODDAMN JOB!

What legislation came out of the Gabby Gifford's shooting? Nada.

Obama has said that present laws are sufficient for gun control. Ergo no assault weapons ban. That's the president's position and he needs to be called out on it. Everything that Holmes did was legal til he pulled the pin on the grenade.

More to the point. Everything Holmes did prior to pulling the pin on the grenade REMAINS LEGAL. Nearly all of the wielders of of political power want to keep everything HOLMES did up to that point legal. If Obama goes along with that, he is indeed a political coward. Moral hazard. Civilians should not have access to military hardware like assault weapons, grenades and extended magazines. They can't be trusted with them. Mass murder should be more challenging.

I can almost guarantee you that nothing will change. You would think that the near assassination of a congress-woman and a couple dozen innocent by-standers would have been enough of a breaking point. What makes this unique is that he obtained everything LEGALLY. And the powers that be want to preserve the right to do everything James Holmes did, right up to pulling the pin on the grenade.
Think about the Fast and Furious flap. Holder was investigating Arizona gun dealers selling to Mexican drug gangs. Issa punished him for it in the name of defending 2nd Amendment rights. Specifically the right for Az gun dealers to sell to Mexican drug gangs. If you doubt that framing, answer this question...what has Darrel Issa done to curtail the weapons traffic from Arizona gun deal to Mexican drug gangs?

Nearly all politicians on the right and a few on the left will throw down their bodies to protect the right of Americans to access and stockpile the weapons and ammo that made the theater shooting possible.

Moral hazard is used to justify making people drug test to access public assistance (in violation of 4th Amendment unreasonable search and seizure) and to gut all forms of public assistance as "slavery" and injurious to moral fiber...when in fact it won't ever lift them out of poverty - but what it does do is help keep them alive. But when it comes to gun regs, Wall St regs that would have prevented or ameliorated the Meltdown, or regs to prevent mine explosions, streets blowing up from gas leaks, oil spills that destroy entire ecologies...

Well Let's Not Be Too Hasty! Because Moral Hazard and Accountability are for little people. Poor people on welfare who don't have guns.

Moral Hazard is NOT for people who are capable of killing up to a hundred people in under two minutes without having to reload, people capable of destroying the economy, poisoning entire coasts.
Moral Hazard is reserved almost solely for people who are in real danger of starving.
What would Christ say about that, really?
